Fox Glen - Surveying

Today we shot elevations of the lot. This will allow the surveyor to create a topographical map of the property. This map will then be used to plan the exact location and elevation of the home. It will also allow us to plan the rout of the driveway.

This level of detail has not always been necessary in construction but changes to building code have made it more and more common.  Due to the recent adaption of DESC (Drainage, Erosion, and Sediment Control) Planning guidelines, we must now know exactly what the lay of the land is so that we can design the final grade and sediment protection before we apply for the permit.

The handheld GPS receiver records the exact pin location

The transmitter at the top of the hill acts as a local correction
for the satellite signals that triangulate GPS

This device records the GPS information or computer download

All 4 lot pins were found with the help of a metal detector
