The Beginning

I'ts the middle of May  in the year 2012.  This, as it turns out, is the beginning of a new stage in my life - 60 Cubits Contracting is Born!
My name is Dan Heap.  I'm a husband to one and a father to 3+1 (at the moment).  Because foster and adoption is a love of ours, My wife and I find ourselves currently housing our 2 biological daughters, 1 adopted daughter and 1 foster daughter - hopefully with more on the way.   But enough about family - lets hear about fixing things.
I've spent the last 12 years of my life working professionally in the construction field.  4 years before that were spent on the floors of Home Depot where I learned that just because you wear an orange apron doesn't mean you have a clue what the stuff in the store does.  I did, in fact, learn that the majority of the people I worked with there couldn't find or explain uses for most of construction materials in the store.  But fortunately for me, there were a few who knew their trade and were more than willing to teach an interested kid.
From there I worked my way up through the ranks of a single family new construction company and eventually took my turn at commercial construction management.  After a few strip malls and a number of custom homes I found the same thing that most in my industry found - no work.  We had somehow succeeded in building so many houses that we ran out of people to buy them.
This unfortunate turn lead me to seek work in multifamily projects.  I spent the next few years remodeling apartment complexes, offices, and clubhouses before rounding out my employment with a few years at an apartment contracting service company.
Today I seek employment of my own making.  I have learned that quality and honesty are rare in my industry.  I've also seen that it is very possible to earn a living by providing good work at a fair price.  My goal now is to help others to do better up front planning in order to save time and money in the long run.
If you find yourself needing help getting moving in the right direction, let me know and I'll do my best to point you in the right direction.  If, however, you find yourself completely stuck or in need of professional services, I would love to be considered for personally helping you get your plans into action.
